We are partnering with an amazing organization called L2(L squared) and they are a christian organization that serves Kenya. To improve access to clean water, food, sanitary products, and education, which ultimately helps empower communities to put a stop to human trafficking.
For this month, we are partnering to collect fabric for their sanitary pads! scan the QR code to get the list of what they need. If you would like to give financially, you can also give by designating LSquared.
Fabrics needed:
· 100% cotton - think fun, bolder and bright prints and patterns, something that easily can blend with staining. 1 yard of cotton = 1 set of 10 pads. We also use cotton for the drawstring bags for storing the pads.
· Flannel - we can use any flannel, however, if it's patterned it will go inside as our absorbent core, and if it's a solid color we use that for the bottom of our pads to match the color theme of the cotton we use for the top layer.
· Fleece - this is another layer of the absorbent core that goes inside our pads. Any type of fleece is much appreciated!
· PUL - this is the fabric we always run out of first. PUL is what we use to make our pads waterproof. It's the same thing used to make reusable baby diapers waterproof. Out of all the fabrics, this is gold to us.
· Serger thread cones - we've found serger thread to be the most durable thread while sewing everything. We use a lot of thread, so whenever someone donates it, we're very happy! We use colored thread to match the colors of the outside cotton and flannel.
